Ann Arbor Adult Karate?

When I came to my first Ann Arbor Adult Karate class I had no idea what I was doing. I felt like a fish out of water. I didn’t even know what martial art I was doing. Weren't they all called “karate”? My only previous experience had been a couple 30-minute classes at a summer camp when I was a teenager.

What Concerned me about Ann Arbor Adult Karate

I was concerned that this class (which I later learned was actually Ninjutsu) was going to be for kids. What if the kids showed me up in class and making me feel stupid? Or, my greatest fear, what if the kids beat me up? I’m a non-violent person so even trying an Adult Karate class was a huge leap for me to get outside of my comfort zone. All the instructors and other students I met were super-friendly and really nice. That put me at ease right away. The instructors were great about explaining things in a way I could understand. I actually had a ton of fun with the other students AND had a good workout at the same time.

My Favorite Part of Karate

My favorite part of my first Ann Arbor Adult Karate, I mean, Ninjutsu, class was the brief conversation about how we could take our physical skills we were working on and translate them into our lives outside of Quest. We had been working on the concept of holding our ground and speaking up for ourselves. I realized that was a great thing for me to work on in my personal life as well. If you are feeling concerned or intimidated about trying an Ann Arbor Adult Karate class, don’t be. You will have a lot of fun, meet some great people, build self-defense and leadership skills while getting in better shape. Enjoy this #TBT picture from 1997 of Mrs. Copeland at her first Ann Arbor Adult Karate class. Call us at Quest Martial Arts Ann Arbor to schedule your first lesson! We have classes for ages 4 and up. Ninjutsu is a self defense based art and our adults love it! Our number is 734-332-1800. Our web address is Quest-MartialArts.com.
